American Idol moved from Hollywood to Las Vegas with contestants being whittled down to only 70 where they had to songs from the 50′s and 60′s. Contestants were thrown back into group mode and were put on the big stage complete with hair, make-up and choreography. Each group would find out instantly if they were moving on or not but that didn’t mean they were safe!
The group was divided into two days of auditions and if people from day two ended up being better there could be more eliminations and that meant more worrying for the contestants.
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jennifer Lopez[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Randy Jackson[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Steven Tyler[/lastfm] were all about business last night as judges, but sometimes they dragged out the results on whether or not folks were moving on.
Richie Lawson the cowboy who tortured Heejun Hin in the last episode found someone new to torture; a baritone by the name of Jermaine Jones. Neither of them could find a group so they ended up doing a duet. While they harmonized beautifully after some communication issues and Richie just not knowing how to act around other people…Richie sounded bad when he sang verses by himself. But they put them both through to the next round.
The cute little boy who looks 10 but is really 17, David Leathers Jr him and his group of younger hopefuls sang “Rockin’ Robin” and he sounded like a little [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Michael Jackson[/lastfm]!
There was a lot of hype on last year’s vocal coach Peggy Blu being the angry coach from last season actually scared poor Heejun since he went online and watched Youtube videos on how she was last season. After his rehearsal with her Heejun’s group was amazing! He and his entire moved on to the next round without a hitch! There were actually a few groups that moved on as a complete unit.
Jessica the girl who has been diligently taking care of her boyfriend who suffered a stroke didn’t make it! Her trio all claimed to sing professionally so they didn’t take advantage of the vocal coaches and never rehearsed with the band; what a mistake that was! The group sounded awful! To make matters worse, she bad mouthed the show and other contestants when she didn’t make it through. But her other group-mates moved on until day two when Britnee the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Britney Spears[/lastfm] look-alike was let go. See why she didn’t make it:
Jessica said, “I didn’t come to win a television show. I came for a record deal…a lot of the people they are putting through aren’t real artists and they aren’t going to sell any records.” Wow, bitter much?!
After day two performed, day one was asked to come back and even more were cut including the hunky Johnny Keyser , the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] wannabe.
Were you shocked about anyone who went home last night? I ‘m just glad we are getting ready to get into true competition mode!
