Last night on American Idol it was time to send someone home again and it’s always bittersweet. What I really enjoy about this season’s elimination night is that when the group comes out to perform they aren’t lip-synching! Now last year a few shows got called out for this, but let’s be honest it’s nothing that we couldn’t tell they were doing before. I think that’s why they were looking for superior talent this year.
Now I know every year someone says that this is the best season ever with the contestants but it’s the truth! The judges really made sure these folks could harmonize and the top 10 is awesome.
My favorite part of the evening was when Joe Perry from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Aerosmith[/lastfm] came out and sang “Happy Birthday” to Steven Tyler who is turning 64 on Monday. Even Steven’s daughter Liv was in the audience, he got a little teary and it was great.
I will get to the results a little quicker than the host of the show The bottom three I guessed 2 out of 3 right…I thought Heejun would get a pass for his originality this week but he didn’t! The other two were Erika Van Pelt and DeAndre Brackensick from San Jose.
When it got down to it Erika was the one left standing. I told you yesterday that her makeover was more memorable than her singing and that since there was already someone who looks like Pink on the market we didn’t need another one. Great singer, the judges let Erika sing for her life and Randy, Jennifer and Steven agreed that this was not the week to use their one save for the season.
The good news? Erika is in the top 10 so she will be on the live concert tour, not to worry! Do you think the right person went home?
