James Holmes Charged With 142 Counts Including 1st Degree Murder
James Holmes appeared in the Colorado court room today still with his reddish-orange hair staring at the bench blankly with his eyes wide open during the 45 minute hearing.
Holmes was charged with 24 counts of 1st degree murder, 2 counts for each of the 12 people he killed on July 20th at the movie theater in Colorado.
He was also charged with 116 counts of attempted murder, 2 counts for each of the 58 people who were injured in the shooting.
Holmes was hit with 142 charges total, including one count of possessing an explosive device and one count of unlawful use of a deadly weapon.
Prosecutors have not yet decided if they will seek the death penalty, which is an option in the State of Colorado.
Holmes’ next court date is August 9th.
