Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher got into an argument with his girlfriend early this morning, then shot her to death. He then got into his car, drove to the Kansas City facility, stood out in the parking lot, and committed suicide in front of his coach by shooting himself in the head.

Belcher’s girlfriend had just given birth to the couple’s child a few months back. Apparently they started arguing about 7:00 AM.

Police say Belcher shot his girlfriend multiple times in front of her mother, and she was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Authorities say Belcher then drove to the team’s facility where he was met by GM Scott Pioli and his head coach Romeo Crennel, who apparently confronted Belcher and tried to keep him from committing suicide.

Right when police arrived on the scene they heard a gunshot and discovered Belcher had shot himself in the head. Police say just before he pulled the trigger he thanked his coaches for all they had done for him.

Belcher was an undrafted free agent 4 years ago when he signed with Kansas City. So far the game tomorrow between KC and Carolina will be played.
