He has millions, but still rides the subway?! That’s Jay-Z for you, just a down to earth, average guy who apparently takes the train just like anyone else.

While riding the subway on the way to his show at the Barclays Center in New York, he sat next to an elderly lady. Not only is he rich and famous, he’s also friendly as he starting talking to his new friend, Ellen.

Ellen, who likely noticed people with cameras, didn’t hesitate to ask Jay-Z if he was famous.

He modestly replied, “Yes. Not very famous, you don’t know me.”

He introduced himself as only Jay and explained that he made music for a living and that he was on his way to a show at the new Brooklyn arena.

Ellen was impressed and Jay-Z added, “I performed eight shows, actually…This is the last show.”

Ellen then asked what everyone else wants to know, “And you’re going by subway?”

When Jay-Z said yes, she beamed at him and said, “I’m proud of you!”

Those are words everyone likes to hear, regardless of status and fame. The two continued to chitchat and laugh together, and Ellen soon learned although she didn’t know any famous Jays, she’s definitely heard of Jay-Z.

Watch this cutesy conversation here that was shared on YouTube as part of Jay-Z’s documentary, “JAY Z’s Life+Times.”
