Early this week we were happy to hear the good news that Duchess Kate Middleton was pregnant! Although this was good news, Kate was suffering from very severe morning sickness, so bad that she had to be hospitalized. As Kate spent the last few days in the King Edward VII Hospital in central London she had one main nurse that cared for her the entire time she was there. This nurse’s name was Jacintha Saldanha.

Two Days ago an Australian morning radio show thought it might be funny to prank call the hospital to see if they could get through to Kate herself and talk to her. They pretended to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles and they didn’t think they were even going to get through because they had some horrible British accents. But they did, they actually got through to Jacintha, Kate’s main nurse. They pulled off the act because the nurse believed it was actually The Queen and Prince Charles. She was talking to them for while and giving the status of Kate and some other private details.

This morning CBS Local learned they found Jacintha dead at her house near the hospital. They are claiming it to be a suicide.

The hospital hasn’t commented on this, but yesterday, a spokesperson for the hospital spoke out about the prank and called it “foolish” and said they were reviewing telephone protocol. The radio show also released a statement yesterday saying they were sorry and didn’t think their prank would go very far:

“We were very surprised that our call was put through. We thought we’d be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents. We’re very sorry if we’ve caused any issues and we’re glad to hear that Kate is doing well.”

Prince William and Duchess Kate also released a statement, “thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.”

The two Australian DJs have decided to remove themselves from the airwaves for a while.
