The investigation over Joshua Davis’ death is underway. On Christmas evening, Davis, who went by the name JayLoud, was shot to death a few blocks from his home in West Englewood, IL.

According to DNAInfo.com, JayLoud had an altercation with several males on a CTA bus around 11:30 pm. After 18-year-old JayLoud exited the bus, the group of males exited too. The males chased down JayLoud and one of them shot him several times in his torso and once in his ear with a handgun.

A neighbor heard gunfire and found JayLoud lying in the street. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died shortly after.

“Who takes someone’s life on Christmas?” asked JayLoud’s sister Selina Davis, 24.

His family strongly believes it was his attire that got him killed. Although as of now the police have not indicated clothing played any role in this heinous crime, JayLoud’s sister believes it did.

“He was killed because he was wearing a hoodie and getting off the bus,” said Selina Davis. “He was a great boy. He was only a baby.”

JayLoud was wearing a Lil Jojo hoodie to honor late rapper Joseph “Lil Jojo” Coleman who was killed a few months ago. Coleman was JayLoud’s best friend and right after Coleman’s death, rapper Chief Keef, who is a known rival Coleman’s, mocked his death on Twitter.

Friends of Jayloud agree with the family that he was killed over the hoodie.

Since Lil Jojo and JayLoud were best friends, it is plausible their murders are linked, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
