Manti Te’o has finally come out to speak on the scandal that has taken over the entire country. Last week it was discovered that his relationship with a girl who passed away from Leukemia, was in fact a hoax.

The story was a huge part of the background of Manti Te’o who plays football for Notre Dame University and was runner up in the Heisman trophy award in 2012. The story of Manti going against the odds having his girlfriend die just before the end of the football season. 

It turned out that someone was playing a prank on Manti. The girl was someone Manti met online and never actually met in person. Someone was pretending to be a woman who started this relationship with Manti. Manti says, “I wasn’t faking it. I wasn’t part of this.”

Lennay Kekua was her name. Manti lied to others when he told them he had actually met her in tthe flesh. Manti admitted he lied about that fact yesterday during his interview.

Te’o said : “I knew that it was crazy that I was with somebody that I didn’t meet, and that alone people find out that this gir who died I was so invested in, and I didn’t meet her as well … So I kind of tailored my stories to have people think that, yeah, he met her before she passed away so people wouldn’t think I was some crazy dude.”
