Waitress For Applebee’s Who Posted Receipt Of Customer Who Did Not Tip Get’s Fired
According to Yahoo news, a waitress who was fired by Applebee’s after she posted a receipt online of a pastor who refused to tip citing her obligation to give 10% to her church, was fired.
Chelsea Welch, the waitress from St Louis said she lost her job after a customer, a pastor, refused to tip and left her a message on the receipt instead that read: “I give God 10 percent, why do you get 18?”
Applebee’s receipt printed an auto 18% suggested tip because of the customers party size and bill.
The waitress posted a picture of the receipt on Reddit, and it went viral.
The pastor upon learning this information expressed regret and sadness for her actions saying: “My heart is really broken, I’ve brought embarrassment to my church and ministry.”
Applebee’s apologized to the customer for violating her “right to privacy” and told Pastor Bell that the waitress “is no longer employed by the franchise.”
Welch says she feels she was unfairly fired and said: “I come home exhausted, sore, burnt, dirty and blistered on a good day,” she said. “And after all that, I can be fired for ‘embarrassing’ someone who directly insults their server on religious grounds.”
