A huge meteor landed in Russia earlier this morning in the Ural Mountains region of Western Russia and the videos are crazy. You see giant trails of smoke and a huge fireball streaking down through the sky!

The shockwaves of the impact blew out windows and damaged buildings, reports also say between 100 to 400 people were injured from broken glass and concussions. Witnesses said it felt like an earthquake.

Apparently there were about twenty thousand rescue workers sent out to deal with the structural damage. You can find a bunch of different videos on the internet but this one has a pretty good view of what one driver saw as the meteor came blaring through the sky.

Meteorites are solid chunks of rock and mineral debris hurtling through space. When they hit our atmosphere, they start to burn up and turn into what we call a meteor or a shooting star.
