A Judge has granted Oscar Pistorius, the double amputee, bail after being arrested for the shooting and death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day.

Pistorius says he accidentally shot Steenkamp thinking she was a dangerous intruder! Bail was set at $1,000,000 in South African currency which is $112,800 US dollars. Upon release he has to stay away from his home, witnesses and he is prohibited from leaving the country, drinking alcohol and he has to report to the police station twice a week. They aren’t worried about him trying to flee because being a double amputee at the airport would raise red flags and he is so high profile right now he wouldn’t make it very far, it also helps that they are making him turn in his passport.

The prosecution said Pistorius “does not show a propensity to show violence.”

His next court date is scheduled for June 4th, 2013. Later a Land Rover with tinted windows was seen leaving the court, Pistorius is believed to have been in the car.
