“What’s going on, it bothers me… it brought tears to my eyes. This is not right.”

That’s what DJ Khaled had to say when he was asked by Brown and Scoop of the Brown and Scoop podcast (on CBS’s Play.it podcast network) about the issue of police brutality currently being discussed in the media.

“It hurts my heart; it brought tears to me the other day. I can’t believe what’s going on,” said Khaled. “We got to pray more and come together and hug each other and help each other and bring joy and energy around because smiles and love are so powerful it actually blocks the hatred.”

Khaled was asked if there are any solutions to the problems going on in the world.

“I know it’s hard, especially when we see what’s going on because it’s disgusting,” he said. “Love is the key and love is the answer. When you put out love, you receive love… they don’t want you to love. That’s why you see so much crazy stuff; they actually don’t want you to love.”

Khaled then went on to talk about his upcoming album, Major Key, set to drop July 29 and the single titled “Holy Key” features Kendrick Lamar.

“The album is going to be exactly like the album title, Major Key; it’s going to be a major key. You got Jay Z, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Lil’ Wayne, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj,” said Khaled before cutting himself off worrying he had revealed too much. He went on to talk about Kendrick’s verse amidst the recent hype.

“It’s not hype, it’s real. He blacked out, caught the Holy Ghost, he caught the holy key…that’s what I told him when I presented the track to him. I said, ‘Yo man, I want you to catch the Holy Ghost, no rules, no regulations, just go in and he did that.”
