Firefighters Rescue Pets From Home On Norbert WayNine cats, two birds, and various reptiles had to be rescued from this Sacramento home, after the garage caught fire this afternoon. Sacramento firefighters, seen here were able to rescue most of cats, one is still unaccounted for. A passing mail carrier says he saw smoke, and jumped into action, just as the flames were starting to reach across to a neighbors roof. Robert Sweeney says he grabbed a hose and hosed down the neighbors roof. Then grabbed two dogs in the back yard. Other residents came to the rescue as well helping to get the giant bird cages out. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Shooting Investigation In Downtown SacramentoThe victim of this morning’s shooting was found suffering from a gun shot wound – as he lay in an alley near Rodney’s Cigar and Liquor Store at J and 10th street. Police say the shooting started as fight between 2 men inside the store. Police describe the suspect as white man in his 50s – weighing between 250 and 300 pounds. Witnesses say he was wearing a neon baseball cap and had black pants and a black backpack. And... that the suspect took off on foot after firing shots. Police believe the suspect may be homeless and is known to visit the downtown area. The shooting happened just before 11 am, which cops say is unusual, especially for a Saturday morning in downtown Sacramento. The victim underwent surgery. Police say once he recovers… they hope to interview him about the suspect.
